Avelo Airlines plans to fly from McKinney National Airport to two more Florida cities in December, the carrier announced Thursday, which would give the city-owned airport 11 nonstop Avelo routes before the end of the year.

Flights to Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport are set to begin Wednesday, Dec. 16, with twice-weekly flights on Wednesday and Saturday. Palm Beach County service begins a day later, Thursday, Dec. 17, flying Thursday and Sunday. The release identifies that airport as President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT).

For the busy holiday stretch, the carrier is putting two more weekly Las Vegas trips on the schedule, on Wednesday and Saturday. Added to the four weekly flights already on sale, that gives Las Vegas six departures a week.

Where the schedule stands

Commercial service at the airport, which uses the code DTX, is scheduled to start Wednesday, Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day. Opening-day routes go to Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas. Atlanta, Denver, Nashville and New Orleans are slated to follow in mid-December.

The airline is advertising a $69 introductory fare each way. Its fine print limits that price to trips taken Jan. 7 through Jan. 31, 2027, booked no later than Oct. 22, with a limited number of seats. Fees for bags, seat selection and other extras can apply. Reservations are taken at AveloAir.com.

Andrew Levy, Avelo's founder and chief executive, said "North Texas continues to show up for Avelo" and called Collin County "one of the fastest-growing areas in America."

The airline's crew and aircraft base at DTX is set to open the same day as the first flights, with three Boeing 737 jets stationed there. Avelo has said the base will bring about 150 jobs, among them pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and airport staff.
