Barham's goal-line stop on Henry flips Rio game before Cowboys fall in final seconds

Jaishawn Barham met Derrick Henry a yard from paydirt and won the snap that briefly handed Rio to Dallas. Fourth-and-1 at the Cowboys 1 early in the fourth quarter. Henry took the handoff.

Barham knifed through the line and dropped him for a 3-yard loss. Maracanã answered. Dak Prescott took over at the Dallas 4.

Seven plays later KaVontae Turpin scored from 9 yards out, and the Cowboys led 28-24. Baltimore still won 34-31 when Tyler Loop hit a 56-yard field goal as time expired Sunday.

DallasCowboys.com opened its fourth-quarter account with that goal-line sequence - three plays inside the 5 that ended on Barham's tackle for loss. The Associated Press wrote that Henry finished with 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns but was stuffed on fourth down when the rookie linebacker "sliced through the offensive line."

How the stand was built

Baltimore reached first-and-goal at the Dallas 3 after Zay Flowers' 20-yard end-around. Lamar Jackson lost a yard on first down. Henry gained two, then one. On fourth down Barham finished the series. The CBS Sports play-by-play credits Henry with a loss of three to the Dallas 4.

Prescott's response covered 96 yards: a 49-yard throw to CeeDee Lamb, a 19-yard catch-and-run from Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Turpin's touchdown. For several minutes the defensive stop was the game's hinge.

One stop, not two

Jackson drove 69 yards and found Matt Hibner for a 2-yard touchdown with 1:30 left. Prescott forced a tie on Brandon Aubrey's 23-yard kick with seven seconds remaining. Jackson's 27-yard completion to Flowers set up Loop from 56, the AP reported.

Barham finished with four solo tackles and three assists in the CBS box and was in on several of the early-down stops that made the fourth-down try necessary. The Cowboys fall to 1-2 before next Sunday at Houston. One goal-line win does not erase Baltimore's 192 rushing yards. On this night it remains the clearest individual defensive signature Dallas produced before the final kick.
