A Lightbridge Academy child care center is planned on the west side of McKinney, with construction scheduled to begin this week, according to a state filing.

The project, registered Oct. 2 in the state licensing department's accessibility database, calls for new construction of a 14,600-square-foot child care center on Lot 1 at the corner of Jordan Road and Virginia Parkway. The filing estimates the cost at $3 million and lists a start date of Thursday, Oct. 15, with completion on Aug. 1, 2027.

The record lists the owner as Bryteside Investments LLC, with a Prosper address, and the design firm as Colliers Engineering & Design of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. It says the work is privately funded and that the money is not coming from a tenant. No tenant is listed by name beyond the Lightbridge Academy facility name, and the status reads "Project Registered."

A second filing registered the same day lists a center of the same size and cost in Celina, also under the Lightbridge Academy name, on the same construction schedule.

Who Lightbridge is

Lightbridge Academy is an early childhood education franchise. Its locations page lists Texas centers in Cypress, Fate, Flower Mound, Fort Worth and Katy, among others. The page did not list a McKinney center as of Monday, and the company has not announced an opening date or enrollment details for the site.

The filing does not say how many children the center would serve.
