Collin County District Clerk Mike Gould has been selected for the 2027-28 class of Leadership 254, a leadership development program the Texas Association of Counties runs for county officials, his office and the association announced Friday.
Texas has 254 counties, the number in the program's name. The program brings together elected and appointed officials from across the state and from a range of county offices, with the stated goal of strengthening leadership, collaboration and public service in county government.
What the program involves
The 2027-28 class will meet for four training sessions of two to three days each over a 14-month period, starting in February 2027, according to the announcement. This class's theme is "Reflect, Grow and Transform," and the sessions combine skills assessments, facilitated discussions, leadership theory, self-examination and hands-on exercises.
County officials applied for this class between June 1 and July 6, according to the association's program page. The association provides a scholarship to every participant it selects, covering program materials, assessments, lodging and meals. Participants pay for their own travel, the page says.
What Gould said
"I am grateful for this opportunity to learn alongside fellow county officials, exchange ideas and bring valuable knowledge and new perspectives back to the citizens of Collin County," Gould said in the announcement.
