McKinney, Texas — The Dallas Mavericks have retained center Moussa Cissé by matching an offer sheet from the New York Knicks, ESPN reported, before announcing a multi-year agreement July 22.
The ESPN report said New York’s offer was a two-year deal worth $4.7 million. Dallas matched it before the deadline; the matching provision means Cissé cannot be traded without his consent for one year.
The Mavericks did not disclose terms in their own announcement. Cissé, a 6-foot-11 center, averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes across 38 games as a rookie.
He also appeared in 15 regular-season contests for the Texas Legends, producing 14.7 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game, the club said.
