McKinney, Texas — The Dallas Mavericks have hired Jennifer Ridgeway as chief impact officer, giving her responsibility for the NBA team’s charity and community-engagement work.

Ridgeway comes from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, where she had executive duties that included serving as chief impact officer. She will report to Mavericks President Ethan Casson, Sports Business Journal said.

D Magazine reported that her new portfolio includes the Mavericks’ social-responsibility strategy, philanthropic programs and community engagement.

The Mavericks’ home arena in Dallas sits roughly 32 miles south of McKinney, and the franchise’s organizational changes can shape programs offered throughout North Texas.
