A Dominant Visiting Performance

Baylor secured a decisive victory on the road, defeating the host Arizona State Sun Devils 55-19 in a contest defined by early offensive momentum and sustained scoring drives. The Bears (4-1) utilized a balanced attack to build an insurmountable lead at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, before the final whistle.

Offensive Explosion Early On

The game began with Arizona State taking a brief 3-0 lead on a Carson Smith 46-yard field goal. However, Baylor’s offense immediately responded with explosive plays to seize control of the first quarter. Ryelan Morris broke free for a 63-yard touchdown run, followed by DJ Lagway connecting with Tony Livingston on a 3-yard pass to give the visitors a 14-3 advantage.

Lagway continued to dictate the pace in the second quarter, finding Louis Brown IV for a 10-yard touchdown strike. Although Arizona State managed to cut into the deficit with an Omarion Miller 30-yard touchdown reception and a subsequent Smith field goal, Baylor’s offense refused to stall. Rhett Armstrong added a 36-yard field goal before halftime, extending the lead to 24-13.

Third Quarter Surge Cements Lead

The third quarter saw Baylor pull away definitively. Lagway found Hawkins Polley and Jadon Porter for touchdown passes of 3 yards and 8 yards, respectively. Arizona State responded with a Smith field goal, but Baylor’s ground game proved too potent to contain. Caden Knighten capped the scoring period with a 75-yard touchdown run, making the score 45-16.

Late Scoring and Final Stats

Arizona State scored late in the fourth quarter on a Smith 40-yard field goal, bringing the margin to 29 points. Baylor answered with a Lagway 11-yard rushing touchdown and closed out the scoring with Armstrong’s 23-yard field goal for a final score of 55-19.

Lagway was the standout performer for Baylor, completing 25 of 40 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Morris contributed significantly on the ground with 84 rushing yards and one touchdown. Gavin Freeman led the receiving corps with seven catches for 115 yards.

For Arizona State, Cutter Boley threw for 304 yards with one touchdown and one interception, completing 25 of 43 passes. Reed Harris was the primary target with seven receptions for 125 yards, while Kyson Brown added 34 rushing yards on seven carries.

The loss drops Arizona State to a 2-2 record, while Baylor improves to 4-1.
