Defining Runs Seal the Win
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their first victory of the season with a decisive 24-16 road win against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The game was defined by Tampa Bay’s ground game, which ultimately overwhelmed a Dallas defense that had held firm in the opening half.
Bucky Irving was the engine for the Buccaneers, carrying the ball 21 times for 165 yards and scoring a crucial touchdown in the third quarter.
Irving’s impact began early in the second period when he caught a 5-yard pass from quarterback Jalon Daniels to tie the game at 7-7. However, the Buccaneers’ offense found its rhythm later in the third quarter. Irving broke through for a 1-yard rushing touchdown to give Tampa Bay a 14-10 lead.
He added another 2-point cushion with a second 1-yard rushing score, making it 21-10 before Chase McLaughlin kicked a 41-yard field goal to extend the advantage to 24-10.
Cowboys Offense Struggles Despite Prescott's Numbers

The Cowboys opened scoring with Javonte Williams rushing for a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter, making it 7-0. Brandon Aubrey added a 41-yard field goal in the second period to push the halftime lead to 10-7.
Despite trailing, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 316 yards on 24-of-42 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions.
