Globe Life, based in McKinney, lowered its 2026 earnings forecast on Oct. 21 after losses in part of its health-insurance business, even as companywide premium revenue grew 7%.
The insurer now projects annual net operating income of $15.35 to $15.65 per share. That is a management-defined, non-GAAP measure, not the same as reported net income.
Globe Life attributed the change to unusually costly claims at its Evry business and a Medicare claims-processing delay. It said those issues, rather than a fundamental change in its core business, drove the revision.
United American, the division that includes Evry, recorded a $6.4 million health-underwriting loss, versus a $16.1 million profit a year earlier. Its health premiums totaled $219.3 million.
For the quarter ending Sept. 30, reported net income was $4.62 per diluted share, down from $4.73. Net operating income edged up to $4.84 from $4.81.
