McKinney, Texas — FC Dallas has acquired goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes, giving the North Texas club another experienced option for the remainder of the MLS season.

The return to San Jose can reach $1 million in General Allocation Money. The deal contains $700,000 in guaranteed funds and $300,000 in conditional funds, according to MLS and Field Level Media.

Daniel has posted 15 clean sheets across 86 appearances in all competitions since taking San Jose’s starting role in 2023, MLS reported. The 32-year-old has a U.S. green card and therefore does not fill an international roster slot.

André Zanotta, FC Dallas’ chief soccer officer, said Daniel understands MLS and will provide competition at goalkeeper. Michael Collodi had been the starter this season, with three shutouts in 13 appearances.

FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium home is roughly 15 miles southwest of McKinney in Frisco. San Jose had brought in Angus Gunn before sending Daniel to Dallas.
