Fifth-inning swing
Altuve’s infield single in the bottom of the fifth broke a 2-2 tie, and Trammell followed with a three-run homer to right as the Houston Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park.
The Astros had trailed by neither team after four scoreless innings for Toronto, then used two scoring innings and a late add-on to finish with seven runs. Trammell’s homer, measured at 388 feet, was the only home run of the game and scored Walker and Altuve ahead of him.
Astros build, Jays answer
Houston took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when Diaz singled to left and Altuve scored, with Trammell moving to second. The Astros made it 2-0 later in the inning when Smith singled to left and Trammell scored on a throwing error by left fielder Sánchez. Smith reached second on the error, and Diaz reached third.
Toronto tied the game in the top of the fifth. Straw tripled to center to score Giménez, cutting Houston’s lead to 2-1. Straw then scored on a wild pitch by Wesneski, making it 2-2.
Houston answered in the bottom half. Alvarez scored on Altuve’s infield single to shortstop, with Walker moving to second, for a 3-2 Astros lead. Trammell then homered to right, bringing in Walker and Altuve for a 6-2 lead.
