Dominant Pitching Performance
Minnesota Twins starter Taj Bradley delivered a masterful pitching performance, striking out 11 batters over five innings to lead his team to an 8-3 victory against the Houston Astros. The win improved Bradley’s record to 7-3, while the loss dropped Houston’s Tatsuya Imai to 5-4.
Bradley allowed four hits and one earned run, walking three batters in a start that set the tone for the Twins' offensive output.
Early Offensive Surge
The Twins established control early in the first inning. Byron Bell launched a 452-foot home run to center field, driving in two runs and giving Minnesota a 2-0 lead. The Astros responded briefly in the same frame when Alex Bregman’s groundout allowed Jose Altuve to score, making it 2-1.
However, the Twins quickly regained momentum in the second inning. Jake Meyers’ single was not enough to stop a massive explosion when Will Smith homered to right-center field, a 399-foot blast that drove in three runs and extended the Twins’ advantage to 5-1.
Maintaining the Lead
Minnesota’s offense continued to capitalize on opportunities throughout the middle innings. In the fifth, Austin Hedges singled to center field, scoring two more runs to push the score to 7-1. The Astros attempted a rally in the sixth inning, with one run scoring on a single by Yordan Alvarez and another on a hit by Kyle Tucker, narrowing the deficit to 7-3.
