McKinney ISD has earned an overall A from school-rating website Niche for a third consecutive year, the district announced Friday, Oct. 23. College preparation was its highest-rated category on the site, with an A+.
The result gives McKinney families a districtwide snapshot, but the overall letter does not tell the whole story. Niche lists A grades for academics, diversity and sports; B grades for teachers and administration; a B+ for clubs and activities; and C grades for food and resources and facilities.
Superintendent Shawn Pratt credited teachers, staff, administrators and families in the district’s announcement. “Our focus remains on providing a high-quality education for all students,” he said.
The Niche grade is separate from Texas’ state accountability rating. Niche combines education data and reviews in its rankings, while McKinney ISD’s accountability page explains the state’s separate A–F system. Families comparing schools can also examine individual campuses rather than relying solely on a district average.
Niche’s current district profile displays a 2027 rankings badge. Some underlying information is older: the test-proficiency figures on that page come from Texas’ 2024–25 assessments. The announcement date should not be confused with the year every measure was collected.
