McKinney ISD reported a score of 96 and a Superior Achievement rating in the state’s School FIRST financial-accountability review at its Oct. 19 board meeting.
The rating concerns how the district manages and reports its finances, rather than students’ academic performance. Chief Financial Officer Marlene Harbeson presented the 21 indicators used in the review, according to the district’s meeting recap.
Trustees also approved district and campus improvement plans, which set priorities and strategies for student achievement. The Oct. 19 agenda and supporting documents are available through the district’s board portal.
A date for families considering college credit
In a separate announcement, the district said applications for the Collegiate Academy of McKinney’s 2027–28 school year will open Nov. 2, 2026.
The Collin College partnership lets students work toward a high-school diploma and an associate degree, or at least 60 college credits. Students take classes together as a cohort through high school.
Families can read about the program’s structure and tuition on the academy information page. At the time of this review, that page still displayed the earlier 2026–27 application. Families should look for the new application period rather than use the older form.
