Lions Answer Back: McKinney Beats Forney 23-14

McKinney's response arrived at home, and it came with a decisive second quarter.

The Lions defeated Forney 23-14 on Friday, September 4, at McKinney ISD Stadium, moving to 1-1. After the teams finished the first quarter tied 7-7, McKinney scored 13 unanswered points in the second to take a 20-7 halftime lead. Game result and quarter-by-quarter scoring

Forney cut the lead to 20-14 in the third quarter. McKinney added three points in the fourth and kept the Jackrabbits off the scoreboard in that period, turning a six-point advantage into a nine-point finish.

TJ Corbett supplied 95 rushing yards on 15 carries. The team's MaxPreps game page recognized Corbett, Cason White and Boston Stephens as its offensive, defensive and special-teams players of the game, respectively.

Next comes Little Elm on September 11. The Lions have their first win and a useful example of how to protect a lead after an opponent makes a run.
