A small vacant corner in McKinney’s historic town center is headed to the City Council with conflicting recommendations on what housing should be allowed there.
Council members are scheduled to hold a public hearing Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, on rezoning roughly 0.11 acres at the southeast corner of West Erwin Avenue and Coleman Street. The regular meeting begins at 6 p.m. CDT in the council chambers at 401 E. Virginia St.
The request would replace RS-60 single-family zoning with TR1.8 townhome residential zoning. According to the city’s staff report, the proposed district permits attached single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes. A zoning change would establish permitted uses; it would not itself confirm a construction start or a particular number of homes.
