McKinney officials will consider increasing the application fee for a noise-ordinance variance from $25 to $150 at the City Council’s Monday, Oct. 5 meeting. The $125 increase is part of a staff proposal that also addresses construction-noise exceptions and appeals.
Development Services staff says variance requests have increased recently. Its report calls for clearer procedures to make those requests and appeals more predictable and transparent. The proposal would establish a construction-noise variance process and revise how denied variance requests can be appealed.
The measure, listed as consent-agenda item 26-0945, is a proposal awaiting council action. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 401 E. Virginia Street.
Residents wishing to speak on the item should submit a Request to Speak card to the City Secretary before the meeting, according to the agenda. The city also provides a live meeting stream and the proposed ordinance through its official meeting materials.
