A proposed trio of drive-through restaurants on University Drive is on McKinney’s Oct. 13 planning agenda, but city staff is recommending a two-week delay rather than consideration of the permit’s merits.

The request covers Burger King, Popeyes and Taco Bueno on the south side of University Drive, about 280 feet west of Aviation Way. The restaurants are proposed uses, not announced openings.

In the staff report for case 26-0008SUP, planners recommend continuing the public hearing and tabling the item until Oct. 27 because notification signs were not posted within the required timeframe. That remains a recommendation; the commission has not yet taken the Oct. 13 action.

For nearby residents following the proposal, Oct. 13 could establish when the hearing continues, rather than resolve the application. No opening date is established in the report.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. Central in City Hall Council Chambers, 401 E. Virginia St. Residents can check the posted agenda and case report for any updates before attending.
