The MLS All-Stars are set to face off against the Liga MX All-Stars at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
This exhibition continues the tradition of pitting the two North American leagues against each other, rather than featuring teams from within a single league. The event occurs during a condensed MLS season, which experienced a pause from late May to mid-July due to the World Cup held across North America.
After resuming on July 16, the league has been engaged in a series of rivalry matches.
Dean Smith, head coach of Charlotte FC, has selected the MLS roster, which consists of 29 players. The team was formed through a combination of fan votes for 11 players, 12 selections made by Smith, and two additional picks from MLS commissioner Don Garber.
Among the notable players on the roster are Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller, both of whom are high-profile signings. Other players include Richie Laryea from Toronto FC and three representatives from the Vancouver Whitecaps.
In the days leading up to the match, the roster experienced changes. Initially included players such as Lionel Messi, Hugo Cuypers, Rodrigo De Paul, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi were replaced for various reasons, with Messi and De Paul excused for rest.
The Liga MX side has named 24 players, including four from Toluca, the recent champions of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. Cruz Azul has the most representatives with five players, while CF Pachuca also contributes four.
