Avelo Airlines will launch its first commercial service from McKinney National Airport on November 11, establishing a new base in Collin County. The carrier will operate nonstop routes to Las Vegas, Nevada, along with Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa in Florida. Flight frequency will vary by destination, ranging from two to five weekly departures.
Bookings for these new routes open Tuesday. Introductory fares start at $99 one-way through the end of July and include a complimentary checked bag. CEO Andrew Levy noted that prices may drop to $79 after the promotional period, though specific upper limits were not provided. Baggage fees are expected to range between $45 and $50 depending on the route.
Avelo plans to base two Boeing 737-800 aircraft at the airport, creating over 100 local jobs for pilots, technicians, and ground staff. The airline describes the facility as a convenient alternative to larger hubs, focusing on point-to-point leisure travel. Levy stated that future route expansions will depend on passenger demand.
