Avelo Airlines has scheduled its inaugural commercial flights from McKinney National Airport to begin on November 11. The carrier will offer service to Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale in Florida, as well as Las Vegas, Nevada. These five locations represent the airline's first destinations from the North Texas facility.
Tickets for the new routes start at $99 one way. Travelers who complete their reservations by the end of July will receive a complimentary checked bag. The airline plans to utilize 184-seat Boeing 737 aircraft for these operations and stated that the expansion will create over 100 jobs in the region.
McKinney National Airport, identified by the code DTX, has faced a lengthy development process. Residents previously rejected a bond measure for the project in 2023, but city officials later secured alternative funding and approved zoning changes. While the North Texas Conservation Alliance filed a federal lawsuit regarding the airport's environmental review, that case was dismissed.
Avelo is currently the only carrier with an agreement to operate from this location.
