Avelo Airlines has announced plans to launch commercial passenger service at McKinney National Airport, with the first flights scheduled for November 11. The carrier will operate nonstop routes to Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as four destinations in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa.

The airline, which is headquartered in Texas, stated that the new operation will generate more than 100 jobs. To attract passengers, Avelo is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $99. Additionally, travelers who complete their bookings before August will receive their first checked bag at no extra cost.

Andrew Levy, the founder and chief executive officer of Avelo Airlines, described the McKinney launch as a significant milestone for the carrier. He highlighted the airport's ease of use and the airline's on-time performance as key benefits for travelers. McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, thanking the airline for its investment in the regional market and confidence in the local airport.

Ken Carley, the director of McKinney National Airport, noted that the new service provides local residents with additional travel options that save both time and money. He emphasized the airline's commitment to serving the community's travel needs.

Avelo Airlines entered the market in 2021, marking the first new commercial carrier in the United States in 15 years. The airline currently serves 37 destinations across 15 states, along with two locations in Puerto Rico. McKinney National Airport has been in operation since 1979.

Details regarding specific flight frequencies or the exact number of new positions created were not provided in the initial announcement. Further information on ticket availability and schedule adjustments will be released as the launch date approaches.
