KFC is initiating a significant transformation of its global brand, introducing updated packaging, modernized interiors, and new menu items. The chain describes this shift as its "next chapter" and plans to roll out the changes across its 34,000 locations in 150 countries throughout 2026.

The first U.S. prototype, dubbed the "Open House," will open in McKinney later this summer. This location, situated near Yum! Brands' global headquarters in Plano, serves as a testing ground for the new concept. The design features an open-concept layout intended to blend heritage with contemporary aesthetics, aiming for a more flexible and welcoming customer experience.

Menu updates include a focus on boneless chicken, new tenders, and over 20 globally inspired dipping sauces such as chimichurri ranch and hot honey habanero. The chain is also expanding its beverage platform under the "KWENCH by KFC" brand, adding sparkling lemonades, boba refreshers, and specialty shakes. The global rollout begins in the United Kingdom and Ireland before expanding to other international markets.
