Paulo Gonzales, a resident of McKinney, was taken into custody by Lewisville police after an extended inquiry conducted by the department’s Crimes Against Children division.

According to a department release issued Friday, investigators began looking into the matter in July 2026 after receiving several tips regarding suspected child sexual abuse material. Those initial reports prompted officers to identify Gonzales as a person of interest.

In August, Lewisville police obtained a search warrant for Gonzales’ residence. The execution of that warrant involved the Lewisville Police Department SWAT team, officers from Dallas, and a specialized canine unit trained to locate electronic devices. During the search, authorities discovered evidence leading to criminal charges.

Gonzales was charged with possession of visual material depicting sexual assault. He was arrested at his home in McKinney. Additionally, he faces separate charges originating from Denton County.

In their statement, Lewisville officials emphasized their commitment to addressing these types of crimes. The department stated it would continue to use all available local, state, and federal resources to investigate and prosecute individuals accused of sexually exploiting children.
