A Collin County jury has sentenced 53-year-old Pablo Berrios to life in prison for the murder of a friend in New Hope. Berrios pleaded guilty to the charge, which followed a September 2025 incident near Drift Drive where deputies discovered the victim with severe head trauma.
According to law enforcement records, Berrios admitted to a detective that he struck the victim repeatedly with a pipe after a minor disagreement. He stated that he paused the assault to smoke a cigarette before resuming the attack. The victim’s wife, who witnessed the event, identified Berrios as the perpetrator.
During the sentencing phase, the jury considered Berrios’ confession and witness testimony. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis thanked the prosecution team and deputies for securing justice for the victim’s family.
