Nine members of the McKinney Fire Department were transported to a local hospital for treatment following a residential structure fire on August 30, 2025. The incident occurred in a large single-family dwelling in the Stone Hollow subdivision, resulting in two serious injuries and seven minor injuries among the responding crew.
Emergency services were dispatched at 21:11 after a resident reported a fire in the master bedroom. Initial units arrived to find heavy smoke exiting the front door of the two-story residence. Interior crews entered the structure to conduct search operations and work on the second floor, where visibility was reported as zero.
Despite these efforts, the fire was not located on the upper level. Exterior personnel eventually identified the source of the flames on the first floor near the corner of the building.
As interior crews began to exit due to low air supply, a firefighter from Tiller 11 ran out of air, prompting a Mayday call. A rapid intervention team entered the structure to assist the trapped firefighter. With the help of additional units, the injured firefighter was cleared from the building at 21:49.
The remaining interior crews followed shortly after. The two seriously injured firefighters were treated for significant smoke inhalation, while the seven others were evaluated for smoke inhalation, overexertion, and dehydration.
Fire investigators determined that the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the home, started in the first-floor master bedroom and was classified as accidental. The residence, built in 2016, is a Type V lightweight wood-frame structure with 4,450 square feet of living space. The home features high ceilings, a winding staircase, and a steeply pitched roof.
