Avelo Airlines has confirmed it will operate nonstop flights from McKinney National Airport (DTX) to five cities, beginning November 11, 2026. The carrier selected Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa in Florida as its initial destinations.
These inaugural flights will align with the opening of a newly constructed passenger terminal at the airport, which is also scheduled for November 2026.
The airline will provide service from McKinney on Wednesdays through Mondays. City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox stated that the city welcomes the new service, noting that it reflects growing demand for convenient air travel in the region. He described McKinney’s increasing role in North Texas as the area continues to reshape.
Cox thanked Avelo for its confidence in the regional market and its decision to invest in the airport.
Andrew Levy, founder and chief executive officer of Avelo Airlines, described the carrier as the anchor tenant and launch airline at DTX. He emphasized that the airline’s low fares and reliable service are intended to appeal to North Texas travelers. Levy noted that Avelo will base two aircraft at the airport, signaling a long-term commitment to the area.
He added that this investment is expected to create more than 100 new jobs locally.
Levy, who identified Avelo as a Texas company based in Houston, expressed pride in expanding its presence north of its home base. He characterized McKinney as a community on the rise and stated that the airline is proud to serve as its hometown carrier.
