The Housing & Community Development department has published a calendar of upcoming workshops and events designed to help residents learn about city services, home ownership, and community partnerships. The schedule includes sessions on home organization, water conservation for homeowners associations, affordable housing, and emergency preparedness.

The first event, titled "Less Mess, More Life: Learn How to Organize & Declutter Your Home," is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The session will be held in the Bailey Room at the John and Judy Gay Public Library, located at 6861 Eldorado Pkwy.

Local organizer Lisa Trigsted will present expert tips on organizing and discuss the city's bulk pickup program. Registration is required to attend.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., McKinney City Hall will host a forum titled "How Texas HOAs Can Save Money by Saving Water." Presented by HOA Connect and the North Texas Municipal Water District, the free event will feature regional experts on water-efficient landscaping and strategies to reduce outdoor water use.

Registration is required, and additional dates and locations are available in the region.

An interactive follow-up to the 2026 Affordable Housing Summit, called "Beyond the Summit: Building Housing Partnerships," will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Gather on the Square, 207 E. Virginia St. Hosted by McKinney Front Porch in collaboration with the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, the event aims to connect local partners and explore opportunities to advance affordable housing.

The registration deadline is Oct. 1.

Finally, an HOA & Neighborhood Leaders Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fire Administration Building, 2100 Taylor Burk Dr. The session will provide an inside look at emergency response coordination and the roles of first responders, public works, and city departments in disaster preparedness.
