The McKinney City Council has adopted the Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget, maintaining the city's current property tax rate of $0.412284 per $100 of taxable value. The new budget takes effect on Oct. 1, 2026.
The adopted plan includes a balanced General Fund of approximately $246.5 million. These funds are allocated to support police, fire, and emergency response, as well as streets, parks, libraries, and other essential city services. The city's total budget across all funds is approximately $880 million, covering general operations, water and wastewater services, capital investments, and other programs.
To maintain the current tax rate, the city offset an approximately $2.2 million reduction in projected revenue. The budget achieves this balance through approximately $1.2 million in targeted expense reductions and $1 million in additional revenue generated by a transfer from the McKinney Community Development Corporation.
