The McKinney Public Library System is scheduling a series of bilingual storytime events for children aged 3 to 5 years at the John and Judy Gay Library. These in-person programs are designed to introduce young participants to Spanish through stories, songs, movement, and playful activities.
The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Subsequent dates include Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the same time. The program aims to enhance literacy, offer creative learning opportunities, and foster community involvement.
The Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library remains closed for renovations. During this period, holds and returns are available at the John and Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall.
Caregivers must remain with their children for the duration of the program. The event structure includes a welcome, hello song, bilingual song and story, games, vocabulary exercises, a craft, and cleanup time. The theme for the September session is leaves.
Registrations open at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Participants must select ticket quantities based on the number of attendees. By attending, participants consent to their voice, name, and likeness being used in promotional materials without compensation and release the City of McKinney from liability.
The library system provides various other resources, including eBooks, research tools, ESL resources, and career assistance. Additional information regarding library hours, locations, and policies is available through the McKinney Public Library website.
