McKinney Emergency Management to Host Disaster Preparedness Workshop

The City of McKinney will host a disaster preparedness workshop for adults on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The event is scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John and Judy Gay Library. The session is presented by the McKinney Emergency Management Department in observance of National Preparedness Month.

The program aims to educate residents on identifying different hazards, creating personal emergency plans, and assembling emergency supply kits. The event structure includes a welcome and expectations segment, followed by a 45-minute presentation and a 15-minute question-and-answer period.

According to the city, the goals of the program are to leverage community partnerships for specialized knowledge, launch discovery and self-directed learning, and foster community involvement and relationship building.

Registration is required for the event, with 22 seats available. Participants must select the number of attendees and provide their full name and email address to complete the registration process. While the event is listed with a physical location at the John and Judy Gay Library, the registration notice states that this is an online event.
