The McKinney Public Library System will hold an adult book club meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The event is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the John and Judy Gay Library. The session is open to adults and focuses on the book "The Emperor of Gladness" by Ocean Vuong.

The Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library is currently closed for renovations. During this period, holds and returns are available at the John and Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall. The book club aims to present diverse perspectives, foster community involvement, and encourage literacy. Participants will engage in conversations about the latest read and book recommendations.

Registration is required for the event, and there are 17 seats available. Attendees must select the number of participants when registering. Although the event is listed as in-person, the registration form notes that an online event URL will be sent via email confirming registration. Current book selections can be viewed at McKinneyTexas.org/BookClubs.

Additional meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and Wednesday, November 4, 2026. By attending, participants consent to the use of their voice, name, and likeness in promotional materials without compensation. The City of McKinney releases its assignees and licensees from liability for any nature. Individuals who do not wish to be subject to these terms are advised not to attend.
