Groups seeking a share of McKinney's federal housing and community development money have until Oct. 21 to apply in the city's second round of consolidated grants for the 2026-27 program year.

The consolidated grant process covers the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the city's Community Support Grants. This Round II is limited to CDBG-eligible projects: housing work such as acquisition, historic preservation, rehabilitation and lead-based paint remediation; limited commercial rehabilitation; public facilities and improvements; community economic development; barrier removal and accessibility; and neighborhood revitalization and acquisition. Public service programs are not eligible in this round, and the grants are not open to individuals.

The city strongly encourages applicants to meet with staff for technical assistance before submitting, and projects must be approved before the work begins. The last day for technical assistance is Oct. 20 at 4 p.m.; staff can be reached at ConsolidatedGrants@McKinneyTexas.org or 972-547-7517.

Applications are submitted through the city's ZoomGrants portal, and first-time applicants must create a ZoomGrants account. The city also said groups interested in a possible Round III funding cycle can let staff know by email.
