McKinney City Offices and Libraries Closed for Independence Day

McKinney city offices, City Hall, and several libraries will be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, for Independence Day observances.

McKinney residents should plan for closures across city government operations and public facilities in observance of Independence Day. All city offices will be closed for the holiday, with specific closures affecting administrative buildings, libraries, and recreation centers.

City Administrative Offices and City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3. The John & Judy Gay Library will also be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. The Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library remains closed for renovations. Municipal Court offices are closed on Friday, July 3.

Aquatic centers will operate on modified schedules. The Gilda Garcia Garza Aquatic Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Juanita Maxfield Aquatic Center will open later, at 1:30 p.m., and close at 8 p.m. The Senior Pool will be closed on both Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.

Recreation centers will see varied hours. The Apex Centre will follow holiday hours, while the Old Settler's Recreation Center, the Recreation Center at Towne Lake, and the Senior Recreation Center will all be closed on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.

Trash and recycling collection schedules will not change during this period. Residents requiring assistance with life-threatening emergencies should dial 911. For public works or traffic issues, residents may call 972-547-7360.

The city has also listed other observed holidays for 2026. These include Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 19; Memorial Day on Monday, May 25; Juneteenth on Friday, June 19; Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7; Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27; and Christmas on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25.

City offices will be closed on these observed holidays unless otherwise noted. Residents are advised to check the official city website closer to future holidays for specific facility hours.
