The McKinney Public Library System is hosting a Creative Arts Studio program for participants ages 13 and older. The event focuses on exploring new art techniques, building confidence in artistic abilities, and understanding the historical, cultural, and contemporary significance of various art forms.
The program is designed to launch discovery and self-directed learning while offering creative learning opportunities. It also leverages community partnerships to provide specialized knowledge.
The upcoming session, titled "The Mindful Pebble: Abstract Watercolor & Line Work," will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A subsequent session is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the same time.
Although the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library is currently closed for renovations, the library indicates that holds and returns are available at the John & Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall. The Creative Arts Studio event is listed as an online event. Participants who register will receive the online event URL via email confirmation.
Registration is required for the program. Current availability shows no seats are open, but a waiting list is available for those interested in attending. Attendees must select the ticket quantity based on the number of participants. By attending, participants consent to their voice, name, and/or likeness being used in promotional materials without compensation and release the City of McKinney assignees and licensees from liability.
The library system maintains its services through the John & Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall while the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library undergoes renovations. Residents can access other resources, including eBooks, research materials, and genealogy records, through the library's online platforms.
