McKinney Public Library Hosts True Crime Book Club in July

The McKinney Public Library System is offering a monthly discussion group for adults focused on true crime literature. The True Crime Book Club invites participants to explore real cases through the perspectives of history, justice, psychology, and storytelling.

The upcoming session will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event is held at the John and Judy Gay Library. This location is currently serving as a hub for library services while the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library undergoes renovations. Holds and returns are also available at McKinney City Hall.

For this meeting, the featured reading is Hearts of Darkness: Serial Killers, the Behavioral Science Unit, and My Life as a Woman in the FBI by Jana Monroe. The program structure includes a welcome, discussion sparks, and a wrap-up session. The library describes the club as a space for open discussion where all readers are welcome, regardless of whether they have read the entire book.

The program aims to present diverse perspectives, foster community involvement, and encourage literacy. Registration is required for this event. There are 14 seats available for the July session. Attendees must select the number of participants during the registration process. The online event URL will be sent via email upon confirmation of registration.

A subsequent meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the same time and location. Residents interested in joining can register through the library system. By attending, participants consent to their voice, name, or likeness being used in promotional materials without compensation.
