Spurs defeat Suns 123-103 in preseason behind Wembanyama's 19 points

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Phoenix Suns 123-103 in a preseason game Wednesday at Frost Bank Center, getting 19 points from Victor Wembanyama.

Turning point

The first quarter ended with Phoenix ahead 23-22. San Antonio outscored the Suns 38-26 in the second quarter to lead 60-49 at halftime and was ahead 92-75 after three quarters.

Key performances

Wembanyama shot 9 of 14 and blocked four shots in 23 minutes. Stephon Castle scored 18, going 14 of 15 at the line, and Carter Bryant made four 3-pointers in a 16-point night. Tarris Reed Jr. had nine rebounds, and Ja'Kobi Gillespie, De'Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin each had four assists.

For Phoenix, Jamaree Bouyea had 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Ryan Dunn scored 15 on 6-of-6 shooting.

Final numbers

San Antonio outrebounded Phoenix 50-36 and made 30 of 35 free throws. Both teams are 1-3 in the preseason. Attendance was 18,354.
