Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to start against Colorado after missing the team’s past two games with an ankle injury. The matchup will open Big 12 Conference play for both teams, which enter with 2-1 records.
Lagway last played Sept. 5. Baylor coach Dave Aranda said earlier in the week that the quarterback had received clearance from the team’s medical staff. Nate Bennett, who started during Lagway’s absence, will move back to the backup role after completing 75% of his passes for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Bennett also had 15 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Baylor will also have wide receiver Jadon Porter, defensive back Devin Turner and defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler available. Porter and Turner were listed as probable, while Wheeler was upgraded from questionable before the game.
The Bears listed five players as unavailable: safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado ruled out six players, including wide receiver Danny Scudero, tight end Charlie Williams, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua and offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision. Scudero and Williams have combined for 94 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season.
