During the opening set of the Texas Longhorns' volleyball match against TCU at the Players Era Showcase, outside hitter Abby Vander Wal left the game due to a knee injury. The incident occurred when she fell during a play on the left side of the court, remaining down for the remainder of the point.

Vander Wal was seen holding her knee and required assistance from the training staff to leave the court, as she was unable to put weight on her leg. She did not return to the match, which Texas won in a sweep over TCU.

Her absence is considered a significant loss for the Longhorns, as Vander Wal had contributed two kills prior to her injury and her topspin serve had sparked two scoring runs for the team earlier in the set. Further details regarding the extent of her injury are not yet clear.

This is a developing story.
