The Dallas Cowboys are facing increased scrutiny of their coaching staff after a late loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil left the team with a 1-2 record.
Blogging The Boys highlighted the defeat as the second Cowboys loss this season in which the staff was viewed as having been outcoached, with the final sequence bringing particular attention to head coach and offensive play-caller Brian Schottenheimer.
Dallas reached the Ravens’ goal line late in the game but did not use its running game during the final series. The possession ended with two incomplete passes, a Dak Prescott scramble and a false-start penalty by Terence Steele. Cody Warren of Inside The Star questioned why the Cowboys did not give a rushing attempt to Williams while a timeout remained.
RJ Ochoa of Blogging The Boys also criticized Schottenheimer’s game management and play calling, saying the coaching staff should not be costing the team games. The report said Schottenheimer’s hiring is now part of the discussion surrounding the team after the loss.
Prescott is still seeking his first victory over an opponent outside the Cowboys’ division since Thanksgiving, according to the report. Dallas also sustained injuries in Rio de Janeiro, adding to its roster concerns.
