The Houston Texans have ruled out wide receiver Nico Collins for their Sunday game against the Indianapolis Colts. Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring strain and did not practice during the week, according to the report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The injury also kept Collins out of Houston's 20-6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Texans scored six points in that game and enter the third week of the season with an 0-2 record. Indianapolis also enters the matchup without a victory.
Houston will be without its top receiving option for a second straight game. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne are among the wide receivers available to the Texans, while quarterback C.J. Stroud will have to work with a different group of targets.
Tight end Dalton Schultz could take on a larger role. He caught 12 passes on 14 targets for 140 yards against Cincinnati, including eight receptions in the fourth quarter, and leads Houston through two games with 16 catches for 175 yards.
The Texans also could use additional tight ends and seek more from their running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks combined for limited production against the Bengals, with Houston's running backs averaging 1.5 yards per carry. Indianapolis has allowed 354 rushing yards and 5.4 yards per carry through two games.
