The Green Bay Packers are signing veteran guard Laken Tomlinson from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad, a move reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo and published by si.com. Tomlinson, 34, had joined Dallas earlier this month but did not play in either of the team’s first two games.
Tomlinson was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2015 draft and has spent 11 seasons in the NFL. He has appeared in 173 games and started 162 of them. His lone Pro Bowl selection came in 2021, when he played for the San Francisco 49ers.
The guard has also spent time with the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans. He played 10 games for Houston in 2025, allowing three sacks and 11 pressures, while recording grades of 57.1 as a run blocker and 55.4 as a pass blocker, according to Pro Football Focus.
Dallas signed Tomlinson after All-Pro guard Tyler Smith underwent thumb surgery and was placed on injured reserve. Smith can become eligible to return after Week 4. With Tomlinson leaving, the Cowboys have two offensive linemen remaining on their practice squad: Marcellus Johnson and Wanya Morris.
Johnson is listed as a tackle and has not played in an NFL game, while Morris has played tackle on both sides but has no listed guard experience.
