The Dallas Cowboys have officially reduced their roster from 91 to 53 players as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. This initial roster marks the beginning of the team's final preparations, which will also include the establishment of a practice squad.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that the decision-making process for roster cuts was particularly challenging this year due to the increased depth and talent of the team. He emphasized that the Cowboys are a "deeper, better, more talented football team," which made the cuts more difficult.
The roster includes three quarterbacks: Dak Prescott, Joe Milton, and Sam Howell. The running back position features Javonte Williams, Malik Davis, and Hunter Luepke, while the wide receiver group consists of CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, and Camden Brown.
In addition, the tight end lineup includes Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Luke Schoonmaker. The offensive line is composed of nine players, including Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele, among others. The defensive squad features five defensive tackles and six outside linebackers, including notable players like Quinnen Williams and Von Miller.
The secondary includes five cornerbacks and six safeties, with names such as DaRon Bland and Malik Hooker. Special teams will be handled by specialists Brandon Aubrey, Bryan Anger, and Trent Sieg.
