The NFL announced that each team was fined $500,000 due to the numerous fights that occurred during their joint session, which featured over ten altercations.
The latest skirmish involved tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. Reports indicate that Ferguson reacted negatively to a tackle, leading him to throw the ball at Overshown, which escalated into a brief confrontation. Fortunately, the situation was quickly de-escalated, and it appears that the conflict did not escalate further.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his disappointment regarding the earlier joint practice, noting that the fights detracted from the necessary work the team needed to accomplish. He stated, "Nobody wants this. We want to get the work in," emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus during practice sessions.
The Cowboys' practice altercations come on the heels of a heated joint session with the Saints that included pushing, shoving, and punches, resulting in the ejection of Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku for throwing a punch. Schottenheimer acknowledged that the team needs to improve its sportsmanship and focus on their preparation.
