Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said changes to the offensive line remain possible after the team opened the season 0-2. The Texans will visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday for the AFC South opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Houston lost its home opener to the Cincinnati Bengals, 20-6, and struggled on both sides of its offense. Quarterback C.J. Stroud faced pressure on 45.5% of his dropbacks against man coverage, while the Texans finished with 18 rushing yards on 12 carries.
Right tackle Trent Brown drew particular scrutiny after struggling against Cincinnati's pass rush. Blake Fisher, a second-round selection from Notre Dame in 2024, could be considered for the starting role after showing mobility and strength during training camp.
Another possible adjustment would involve Wyatt Teller moving into a full-time starting guard position next to rookie center Keylan Rutledge. The source did not state whether Ryans has made a final decision on the lineup.
The Colts will be without wide receiver Alec Pierce, whom Indianapolis placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a heel injury. The team signed veteran receiver Darius Slayton and added Eli Pancol to its practice squad. Houston is also waiting for the official injury report on Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who has a hamstring issue. Both teams enter Week 3 without a division game completed, so Sunday's winner will hold a 1-0 record in the division tiebreaker standings, while the loser will fall to 0-3. The Texans previously recovered from 0-2 starts to win the division in 2018 and 2023.
