Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu has been selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23. The award honors a scholarship athlete who combines academic achievement, football performance and leadership.
Kanu’s selection continues Texas’ recent presence among the award’s top candidates. Longhorns players have reached the finalist stage in each of the past two seasons.
Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, following center Jake Majors’ finalist selection in 2024. Texas has also produced two Campbell Trophy winners: defensive end Sam Acho in 2010 and center Dallas Griffin in 2007.
