The Houston Texans experienced a challenging day during their joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders, as wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jared Wayne both sustained injuries and were unable to complete the session.
Higgins was reported to be in pain on the ground, and while he did not return to practice, he walked off the field under his own power to seek medical attention. His injury occurred during the fourth team period of practice. Coach DeMeco Ryans stated that there was no update available at the time regarding Higgins, who is being evaluated for a leg injury.
C.J. Stroud, the Texans' quarterback, expressed support for Higgins, noting his strong performance in recent practices. Stroud remarked, "He’s doing great. I think he’ll be fine, but I wish the best and hope he’s all good."
Meanwhile, Wayne's injury status remains unclear, although he has been performing well during training camp. The Texans have faced multiple injury challenges across various position groups this offseason, particularly among their wide receivers. Jaylin Noel returned to practice after recovering from an earlier injury, while Tank Dell was absent, raising concerns about his availability for upcoming games.
Ryans had previously indicated that Dell was following his own plan regarding his participation in practices and games. The Texans are hopeful for his return this preseason, although it appears unlikely that he will play in the upcoming game against the Raiders.
