The Houston Cougars have signed Myles Rowser, a safety previously with Arizona State, following new NCAA eligibility rules that allow certain players an additional season. Rowser became eligible as he did not redshirt during his freshman year at Campbell and did not sign a professional NFL contract, only participating in a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks.
Rowser's collegiate career includes stints at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State in 2024-25. He has accumulated 295 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and has defended 16 passes, along with a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
In the 2025 season, Rowser played in every game for Arizona State, recording 84 tackles, a career-high four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars currently have a strong safety lineup, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who contributed 71 and 48 tackles, respectively, last season. They also added Tulane safety Javion White, who had 50 tackles. With Rowser's addition, there is speculation about potential position adjustments, such as moving one of the current safeties to nickel cornerback.
