The Dallas Cowboys lost another starting defensive back during their Week 3 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens when safety Jalen Thompson exited with a left hamstring injury. His return was later listed as questionable, according to an update cited by Yahoo Sports.
Thompson was hurt during a second-quarter tackle attempt. His leg became caught as his body moved in another direction, and he remained on the field before walking off under his own power and entering the blue medical tent.
Alijah Clark took over for Thompson in the game. Markquese Bell had started alongside Thompson at safety, while Dallas had promoted slot defender Reddy Steward from its practice squad before kickoff. Rookie first-round pick Caleb Downs, who has college experience at safety, had opened the season at the slot position.
The injury followed earlier losses in the Cowboys' secondary. Free safety Malik Hooker suffered a forearm injury in the opening week, and starting cornerback Cobie Durant later went out with a hamstring injury. PJ Locke, who replaced Hooker, then sustained a foot injury.
