Kayshon Boutte, recently traded from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans, spoke to the media for the first time since the trade. During his press conference, he shared insights about his transition and the circumstances leading to his departure from New England.
Boutte had requested a trade during the offseason, citing a desire for a larger role as a key factor in his decision. He noted that the Patriots had signed two players, Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown, to significant contracts, which changed the dynamics of the team's wide receiver group.
Doubs received a four-year deal worth $68 million, while Brown was acquired through a trade involving draft picks.
As a result of these acquisitions, Boutte found himself positioned as the fourth wide receiver during training camp, limiting his opportunities. Despite a solid performance in the previous season, where he recorded 42 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, he faced challenges in securing a starting role.
Head coach Mike Vrabel indicated after the preseason that Boutte might not have been active on game days this season.
